September 2008

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usWelcome to another great year at R.H. King Academy. Whether you are a returning student ready for new challenges or a new student just starting out with your high school career, this year will offer you many opportunities to grow, change, and get closer to the scary 'real world' of rent and responsibility... and it's getting closer than you think.

This blog will serve as a constant reminder of upcoming due dates, tests, assignments, and extension activities. If you use it often, you will find a strong support system amongst your peers as well as better access to myself should you have any questions outside of normal school hours.

Part of your classwork this year will involve creating blogs of your own and learning how to use internet-based tools to help accent your work in an English classroom. This will also be a place where marks may be posted and your parents can come to keep themselves informed on the kind of work that you're doing.

For those of you starting with me this year as a mentor class, this blog will highlight the key information that will be handed out during those meetings but will NOT be a substitute for your attendance. Mentor will be a chance for us to challenge ourselves as leaders in the R.H. King community and a place to bond and share our achievements and difficulties.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to approach me at any time (unless I'm teaching of course, that's just plain silly). While materials or messages may be left for me at King's English office, due to space limitations in that department, I'll be hanging my hat in the tech office this year with Mr. Michaud, Mr. Mensher, and Ms. Mackenzie.

I look forward to a great year!
