PSA Examples

The goal of a PSA (Public Service Announcement) is to get out your message as clearly, quickly, and effectively as possible in a short amount of time or in a single ad. This is a tricky thing to master as you have to rely on your audience's ability to 'get it' and to digest the information. Overloading an ad could hurt the point you're trying to make and being too clever might result in the info going straight over the heads of your audience.

In groups of 3, you will be creating a PSA. You can either do this online, in print, or in video format. Be creative, simple, and clear. You can take on a serious topic such as the one's we've discussed in class, or you can take a parody/satire approach. Just be careful not to cross the line into offensive.

Below are a few examples of video PSAs.

Fight Club - 1 & 2

Bullying (Warning! Slightly graphic)

War Amps

G.I. Joe

Anti-Drugs

Funny PSA (warning, humour)
